For a sustainable future: ProSiebenSat.1 signs UN Global Compact
In January, ProSiebenSat.1 Group signed the UN Global Compact. Thereby, the media company expressly commits itself to the Global Compact principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environment and climate, and corruption prevention. The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s largest and most important initiative for responsible corporate governance. Based on ten universal principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it pursues the vision of an inclusive and sustainable global economy.

It is only with the heart that one can see right: "Love is Blind" celebrates world success
In the first four weeks after it went on air, 30 million households alone tuned in to Netflix to follow along the unconventional search for love. The dating show "Love is Blind," produced by Kinetic Content, a Red Arrow Studios production company, entered the streaming provider’s Top 10 just ten days after its premiere on February 13. In "Love is Blind," love is not only blind proverbially: Singles who no longer want to be guided by superficialities in dating look for the love of their live in this non-scripted format – without ever having seen them. Only after a marriage proposal the lovers meet face-to-face for the first time. Shortly after the premiere, the streaming provider commissioned two more seasons.

New Executive Board team at ProSiebenSat.1
ProSiebenSat.1 reorganized its Executive Board: Chief Financial Officer Rainer Beaujean took over as Chairman of the Executive Board as of March 26, 2020, in addition to his function as CFO. New appointees to the Executive Board are Wolfgang Link, who is responsible for the Entertainment segment, and Christine Scheffler, who oversees Human Resources.

For Your Ears Only: Audio-on-demand platform FYEO launches
ProSiebenSat.1 has launched the new, local audio-on-demand platform FYEO (“For Your Ears Only”). On this, users find free accessible podcasts, which can be called up without registration and free of charge, as well as FYEO Premium with exclusive in-house productions, so-called "FYEO Originals". In addition to external partners, such as Süddeutsche Zeitung or the German Press Agency (dpa), FYEO also cooperates with other ProSiebenSat.1 Group companies like the Starwatch Podcast Factory and the digital studio Studio71. In December 2020, the Group created the new unit Seven.One Audio, thus building on its strengths and expertise in the audio sector.

Online only – first virtual Annual General Meeting
ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE held its Annual General Meeting in Unterfoehring on June 10, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was held online for the first time in the company’s history, without shareholders or their proxies being physically present. All agenda points were approved by a clear majority of the shareholders. Chairman of the Executive Board and CFO Rainer Beaujean summarized the results: “The very positive voting results show that our shareholders stand behind our strategy.” Furthermore, Dr. Antonella Mei-Pochtler was appointed as a member of the ProSiebenSat.1 Supervisory Board with effect from April 13, 2020 by court. At the Annual General Meeting, the shareholders elected her as a new member by a clear majority. She succeeds Angelika Gifford, who resigned from her seat on the Supervisory Board effective January 13, 2020. Mei-Pochtler is an independent entrepreneur, senior advisor at the Boston Consulting Group and special advisor to the Austrian Chancellor. At the same time, she has extensive expertise in the areas of strategy, media, and digital transformation.

Football’s coming home – finally the Bundesliga returns to SAT.1!
SAT.1 secured the exclusive live free-TV package from the German Soccer League Bundesliga. This makes SAT.1 the only free-TV channel to show the Bundesliga as of season 2021/2022. Included in the rights package are a total of nine live matches per season, including the season opener and the Supercup as well as the matches before and after the winter break, the start of the second Bundesliga, and the relegation matches in the first and second Bundesliga. The licensing package is valid for four seasons. In addition to the live broadcast in SAT.1, the matches will be shown on ran.de, sat1.de and the associated apps, as well as via livestream on Joyn at the same time. Back in the nineties, SAT.1 set standards with "ran Bundesliga," and is now getting going again – with the first-class ran team, of course.

Excellent formats and creators from our own ranks
No fewer than six of the most coveted trophies in German television went to formats and creators from Seven.One Entertainment Group and Redseven Entertainment, a production subsidiary of Red Arrow Studios. “The Masked Singer,” which is broadcast live on ProSieben, won German TV Awards in the categories of “Best Entertainment – Show” and “Best Design – Entertainment” for Alexandra Brandner’s costumes. Bettina Böttger won the award for “Best Editing – Entertainment” for the SAT.1 social experiment “Hochzeit auf den ersten Blick” (Married at First Sight) produced by Redseven Entertainment, Andrea Achterberg won the award for “Best Director – Entertainment” for ProSieben’s “Schlag den Star” (Beat the Star). The award for “Best Factual Entertainment” was won by the docuseries “Wir sind klein und ihr seid alt” (Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds) produced for VOX by Redseven Entertainment. A special award for “Best Information: Coronavirus Reporting” went to ProSieben for its “Live Coronavirus Update Spezial” (Live Coronavirus Update Special) and to SAT.1 for “SAT.1-Frühstücksfernsehen. Gemeinsam durch die Krise” (SAT.1 Breakfast TV – Together through the Crisis), as part of its morning program.

Perfect match! Parship Group acquires US-based The Meet Group
Parship Group has successfully completed the acquisition of the US company The Meet Group, following regulatory approval from all required authorities. The newly formed ParshipMeet Group is a leading global player in the online dating market. Its full suite of services ranges from social dating and entertainment to online matchmaking. The ParshipMeet Group now also forms a strong pillar within the Group and operates in a highly profitable, fast-growing segment. Thus, ProSiebenSat.1 creates various upside opportunities and synergies within the Group and secures a stronger presence in Europe and North America.

Award-winning collaboration
The hit format "The Weekly," which Red Arrow Studios production subsidiary Left/Right develops and produces in partnership with The New York Times, won four of the coveted News & Documentary Emmy Awards. These honor excellence in American news and documentary programming. "The Weekly" provides an exclusive look into the work of The New York Times and highlights socially relevant topics: for example, episodes deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, the terrorist group Boko Haram or U.S. education policy, among other topics. "The Weekly" is thus another example of the series of excellent formats that originate from ProSiebenSat.1 ‘s international production network Red Arrow Studios.

A one-stop shop – entertainment business takes shape as Seven.One Entertainment Group
Since October 1, all of ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s entertainment activities are managed under the umbrella brand of Seven.One Entertainment Group. It unites all station brands as well as the content, digital and sales business, thus offering viewers cross-media content across all platforms. The new brand architecture showcases the Group’s contemporary self-image both internally and externally, thus serving as a visible sign of transformation.

ProSiebenSat.1 sells WindStar Medical and increases enterprise value by 2,4x
ProSiebenSat.1 continues to actively manage the Group portfolio, consistently pursuing the strategy of building a focused, synergistic portfolio: in October 2020, NuCom Group sold its entire stake in WindStar Medical to financial investor Oakley Capital. Part of ProSiebenSat.1’s portfolio since 2016, WindStar Medical is one of the leading providers of healthcare products in Germany. The enterprise value of the NuCom subsidiary underlying the transaction was at EUR 280 million. Thus, in the last four years, ProSiebenSat.1 was able to increase the EV by 2.4x – especially thanks to the media reach provided. This underscores the value the Group can generate by leveraging synergies with the entertainment business. The transaction was closed in December 2020.

News from own hands
The Seven.One Entertainment Group is expanding its own production activities. The company will produce the news formats for ProSieben, SAT.1 and Kabel Eins itself across all platforms starting in 2023. Therefore, a central newsroom with around 60 employees will be set up. With this project, ProSiebenSat.1’s reaffirms the aspiration of the Group to help shape public opinion in Germany by providing information across multiple platforms. Thus, it underscores the Group’s awareness of its high socio-political responsibility and is prepared to fulfill it even more strongly.
